The unpleasant symptoms accompanying the hormonal transition are categorized as follows:
Vegetative Side Effects:
Hot flashes, sweat attacks, sleep disturbances, dizziness, palpitations, joint pain and headaches.
Mental Side Effects:
Lack of concentration, restlessness, mood swings and anxiety.
Organic Side Effects:
Usually occur in the post-menopausal phase as a result of estrogen deficiency. This includes: changes in mucous membranes (amongst others vaginal dryness), changes in skin and tissue (reduced elasticity and tone), loss of bone mass with the potential risk of contracting osteoporosis, vascular changes with the potential risk of arteriosclerosis.
